Passionate About Pets
Welcome to Portarlington Veterinary Centre
Portarlington Vet Anne Flanagan is a local Laois woman and started her practice in March 2018 with just one vet and one nurse. She saw the need for a specialised clinic, dedicated to specifically small animals to serve the needs of small animals and their owners in the Portarlington area.
The practice has tripled in size and now comprises, a receptionist, two nurses, one full-time vet, one part-time vet and a full-time dog groomer.
We ensure to provide the best customer experience possible, from Glenda on phones and reception who is always ready to greet customers with a smile and to make a fuss of your pet. To the nurses and vets who ensure extra snuggles are given during recovery and that they receive optimum care and comfort during their stay.
We work closely with local charities such as:
Our Veterinary Services
We have 2 fully qualified and highly experienced Veterinary Surgeons, along with 2 highly qualified caring nursing staff along with our friendly helpful receptionist.
Consultations
If you are concerned about your pet’s health in any way or need a second opinion or just require a routine health check please contact us and we will arrange a consultation for you.
Vaccinations
At 8 weeks of age, a Puppy/ Kitten should receive a vaccination to protect against contagious diseases. A second vaccination at 12 weeks of age is necessary to complete this course of protection.
Neutering
Pets live more contented and happy lives without the drive to reproduce. Neutering has been shown to reduce the risk of mammary cancer and womb infections in female dogs.
Microchipping
Many dogs unfortunately go missing or are stolen. It is now required by law to have all dogs microchipped. By doing so you and your pet’s details are recorded on a national register.
Dentistry
A full general anaesthetic is always necessary to carry out a full examination of the mouth and to take dental xray, checking beneath the gum, where 90% of the problems will arise.
Surgery & X-Ray
Discover exceptional surgical expertise and advanced X-ray diagnostics for your pet’s well-being. Trust our skilled team for the finest care, ensuring your companion’s health is in safe hands.
Grooming
Daphne our full time experienced groomer provides grooming services for all loved family pets.
Flea and Worm Treatment
Worming should begin at 2 weeks of age and continue every two weeks until the pup is 3 months old. They should then be wormed every month until they reach 6 months of age.
